Known for serving as Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson’s flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar, this extraordinary vessel is currently undergoing a mammoth conservation project, preserving its legacy for generations to come.

The Royal Navy’s Flagship

HMS Victory is more than just a ship; it’s a living monument to the Royal Navy’s history. Visitors have the opportunity of a once-in-a-generation glimpse into the restoration of the ship in real time, alongside still being able to experience stepping on board a legend.

When you step on board, you will find that HMS Victory has been restored to her original Georgian glory. Walk the same decks where Nelson commanded his forces before the decisive Battle of Trafalgar and feel the weight of history all around you.

HMS Victory’s story extends beyond Nelson. With a crew of over 800 men, learn how sailors lived and worked below deck during the height of the Georgian navy. See how they endured the challenges of life at sea, and don’t be tempted to try a ship’s biscuit unless you have a strong jaw!

With our easy-to-use audio guide, you can explore her remarkable past at your own pace.

Note: During the off-season, guided tours are available, and details can be obtained at the Visitor Centre upon arrival.

Get an exclusive, once-in-a-generation behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing restoration of HMS Victory. Meet the dedicated teams working to protect her from the elements, get under the skin of this beautiful piece of history and gain a new perspective on the ship’s preservation.

As part of this experience, you’ll have access to the scaffolding surrounding HMS Victory, allowing you to see the restoration work up close. A fun, interactive family trail is also available for younger visitors to help them engage with the project.

Access to Victory Live: The Big Repair is included with your HMS Victory ticket. The scaffold is accessible by lift for those with mobility issues, though access may vary depending on operational conditions.

Victory Gallery

A visit to HMS Victory wouldn’t be complete without exploring the Victory Gallery, which goes beyond the Battle of Trafalgar to reveal the full story of this iconic ship. Discover its decline and rescue in the 1920s, when it was at risk of being lost forever.

This gallery features a cinematic film, interactive exhibits, and rare artefacts, including a section of HMS Victory’s original mast and a magnificent, 200-year-old figurehead. Learn about the incredible people who helped shape the ship’s history, from famous figures to unsung heroes.
