Priddys Hard, Gosport PO12 4LE

The History of Priddy’s Hard

Priddy’s Hard was the historic site where every Royal Navy warship, including the iconic HMS Victory, came to load their guns and ammunition until the Falklands War in 1982. Located safely outside the reach of Portsmouth Dockyard, Priddy’s Hard stored the most hazardous munitions and was home to a variety of workers across many professions.

Now reimagined as a tribute to naval firepower, this location, complete with the original 1771 ‘powder keg,’ offers exhibitions and authentic armaments from different centuries.
